The Surfer SEO alternative that knows what to write about
Writing is easy. Knowing what to write about — that's the job. Surfer, Jasper and Koala produce good texts. But you choose the topic yourself, and once the text is published, nobody tells you whether anything changed. The loop stays open.
Kratak odgovor
If you already have an accurate list of topics and only need a machine that writes and polishes — Surfer does that excellently and Koala does it cheaply. If you don't know what to write and want to see whether what you published brings visitors — they don't help there, because they have neither search data nor rank tracking.
Where they’re better
Surfer has a more mature editor. Rewriting paragraphs as you write, entity handling, live scoring against what’s already on the first page, cannibalisation checks. That’s a product honed over years and it shows.
The cheap AI writers really are cheap. Koala Writer comes to around $1.25 to $1.67 per article, with direct publishing to WordPress. With us you publish yourself — you copy the finished HTML or plain text and put it on the site. If you need many texts, already know the topics and want them going onto the site without your click, that’s hard to beat.
Jasper has developed brand handling. Multiple brand voices, team features, a knowledge library.
Where we’re better
We know what to write about. That’s the whole difference. Surfer analyses pages already on the first page, but has no search volume database and doesn’t pull live suggestions from Google. AI writers don’t have even that. With us a topic starts from a real question with a search volume attached.

We follow what happened after publishing. Surfer has no rank tracking — none at all. Neither do the AI writers. You write, you publish, and that’s the end of the story. With us the article arrives finished, you read it and put it on the site yourself — and from the day you publish, its keyword enters tracking and you can see the movement.
No charge per article. With Surfer an article over the limit is $29, and unused credits don’t roll into the next month. With us a plan has its number of articles and that’s that.
AI visibility tracking is included. Surfer charges $158 a month for that as a separate product.
We do everything else too. Site audit, checklists with a repair plan, backlinks, competitors, local SEO, reports. Surfer is a content tool; we’re a tool for the whole job.

When to choose them
- You have a ready list of topics and only need a machine that writes
- You produce many texts a month and cost per article is your main criterion
- You work in English-speaking markets
- You need exactly Surfer’s level of text polish for competitive keywords
When to choose us
- You don’t know what to write about — that’s the real obstacle, not the writing
- You want to see whether anything moved after publishing
- You work in a language the writing tools have no search data for
- You want one tool instead of three (data, writing, tracking)
Honestly: if you already have an SEO specialist choosing the topics and only need the writing, Surfer or Koala are the more rational choice. We were built for somebody who doesn’t have that person — so the tool has to tell them both what to write and whether it worked.
Česta pitanja
Doesn't Surfer have keyword data?
It analyses the pages already on the first page and gives guidance for your text based on them. But it has no search volume database of its own and doesn't pull live suggestions and questions from Google, so it can't tell you how much a topic is searched before you write it.
Koala Writer costs $1.25 per article — how does that compare?
Per text we're more expensive, and that's true. But the cost of a text isn't the cost — the cost is a missed topic. Ten cheap articles about things nobody searches for cost more than two articles answering questions people actually type.
Do AI writers write in smaller languages?
Some support them to a degree, because they use general models. But they have no data about search in those markets, don't know what's being searched, and don't track your positions. You get the text, not the context.
Can your editor do what Surfer's can?
Not in everything. Surfer has spent years honing its editor — real-time paragraph rewriting, entity handling and live scoring while you write all work better than ours. We have a deterministic SEO review across eleven checks and an AI editor that flags repetition and empty phrases, but we don't pretend it's the same thing.
Can I use Surfer and you together?
You can, though you overlap in good part. The more logical combination is to find the topic and write the first version with us, and polish in Surfer if you need exactly their level of text optimisation.
